Theme: Angst or Romance – Theme wasn't terribly important to me but it seems to be for some, so there you go! It's broad and allows you plenty of artistic freedom. Plus, all of my stories are angst/romance themed, so it fits. ^^

Object of the contest: Draw the characters accurately and keep with the theme! *Note* You must draw the character(s) listed below. It cannot be just 'any' character.

Maximum entries per deviant: 1 per character group per category (8 max) Keep in mind that if you win 1st place, you cannot also win 2nd or 3rd.

Twist of Fate – Aes Sedai/Wheel of Time



Zhai din Eiran – Brown Ajah

Zhai is an Atha'an Miere (Sea Folk), born and raised on a ship. She was sent to the White Tower as a young girl to train to become Aes Sedai and has recently succeeded in that, joining the Brown Ajah. Nelisande has been a dear friend to her throughout her training and she looks to her as an older sister.

Due to a rather cruel twist of fate, she activated the Portal Stones as they were being studied and transported herself and several other Aes Sedai into another world. Shortly thereafter, several of them were killed fighting off a hollow. Zhai herself was severely injured in the process, saved only by bonding her soul with the first person to discover her, Renji Abarai*. His life force kept her alive long enough to be healed.

Personality: Mischievous, quick to laugh and to love.

Description: Zhai is around 5'2” with a petite but curvaceous frame. Her skin is a light cocoa shade, her eyes dark brown and her hair is black and wavy. She usually keeps it held out of her eyes with a bright red sash that matches the one at her waist. Because she is of the Brown Ajah, she tends to wear shades of the color but still has a love of bright red and blue, colors often worn by her people.

Though she's tried to break the habit and wear silken slippers like most other Aes Sedai, Zhai still tries to walk around barefoot whenever she can. She appears to be 25 years old.

Zhai has a total of 4 earrings and 2 tattoos. A large golden hoop is in the bottom of each lobe, but in her right ear she has two golden studs above the hoop. On her right hand, she has a nautical star tattooed between the thumb and forefinger. On top of her left hand is the tattoo of a sea serpent.

She also wears the golden great serpent ring all Aes Sedai wear. Hers is located on her right hand, middle finger.

Lady Nelisande Togita – Green Ajah

Nelisande is half Aiel, half Shienaran. Half savage, half noble, in other words. Her Aiel father taught her the ways of his people, such as hand to hand combat, though she rarely has need of it these days. Her mother taught her the ways of nobility, which has aided her greatly on her path to become Aes Sedai. She has been a member of the Green Ajah for only a few short years and thus far has only bonded one Warder, her childhood companion, Kamavon Shinowa.

At one time the two were betrothed, until it was discovered that she had the ability to channel. (Aes Sedai rarely marry) Rather than part ways, he followed her to the White Tower and trained to become her Warder so that he may always protect her.

Personality: Headstrong, proud and commanding.

Description: Nelisande inherited the height of the Aiel, standing tall and trim at 5'10”. Her flame red hair could have been from either parent, but her amber eyes came from her mother along with her olive skin. She typically wears her hair in a loose braid that hangs more than halfway down her back. She appears to be 28 years old.

Her golden great serpent ring is worn on her left hand, ring finger.

Nelisande can be drawn with:

Lord Kamavon Shinowa - Warder

Born into a noble family in Shienar, Kamavon was betrothed to Nelisande Togita at a very young age. He's spent his entire life by her side and will continue to do so until the day he dies. Though he was hurt when their betrothal was broken off so that she may become Aes Sedai, his dedication to her has never wavered. The day she was given the shawl and joined the Green Ajah, he was bonded to her as Warder (Gaidin) to Aes Sedai.

Personality: The strong and silent type, fiercely protective and even possessive of Nelisande.

Description: Like all Shienaran warriors, Kamavon's head is shaved completely save for a topknot of black hair. Unusually tall, he stands at 6'4” in height and has a very well muscled frame. Like Nelisande, he has olive skin. His eyes are a piercing shade of ice blue.

He is most often seen wearing light armor, a cloak and has a two-handed katana strapped to his back. He appears to be around 36 years old.

Serrelle Whisperwind - Priest (Holy)

Serrelle is the daughter of Tyrande Whisperwind and Malfurion Stormrage, as well as twin sister to Tessah Stormrage. Following in her mothers footsteps, she is trained as a Holy Priestess and spends most of her days in the Temple of Elune.

Personality: Serrelle believes that there is good in everyone, and she has a huge heart. She is a very kind and loving woman. Some may think her timid because she is soft spoken but she is very dedicated to her people and can be quite fierce in protecting their honor.

Description: A bit on the short side for a Night Elf, Serrelle is around 6'2” with skin the color of lavender. Her long blue hair is straight and hangs loose down her back. She has no markings on her face and her glowing eyes are an eerie shade of blue.

She tends to wear several pieces of jewelry that have the crescent moon symbol of her people along with a simple white silk dress. Since she's a Holy Priest, WoW fans who want to draw her can put her in any priest friendly garb they wish.

Serrelle can be drawn alone or with her sister.




Tessah Stormrage - Druid (Feral)

Tessah is the daughter of Tyrande Whisperwind and Malfurion Stormrage, as well as twin sister to Serrelle Whisperwind. Following in her father's footsteps, she is training to become a powerful druid in hopes of gaining the blessing of Cenarius.

Personality: Playful, mischievous and quick witted. Of the two sisters, she appears to be the backbone, saying precisely what she thinks and taking care to protect her sibling from harm. She's a bit of a trickster as well, enjoying playing pranks on others now and then.

Description: Typical height for a female Night Elf, Tessah is around 6'7”. Like her sibling, she has dark blue hair that goes just past her hips in length. Because she practices the art of the druids, her glowing eyes are golden. Her face is marked by a pair of raven wings that cover her eyes and part of her cheeks.

As far as attire goes, you can keep her current costume (the typical leather/crow feathers and silver armor) or you can use any Druid armor from WoW for her.

Tessah can be drawn alone, with her sister, or if you're in a Bleach mood, with Renji Abarai.



Lust for Blood – Vampires (the non-sparkly kind)

There are no picture references for these two as of yet, so they may be particularly challenging or enjoyable because you have a bit more freedom. It's up to you!

Enyo

Of ancient greek descent, Enyo was once revered as the goddess of war and the wife of Ares. She has no memory of what her life was like before she was turned into a vampire and she has never cared to learn.

Personality: Flirty, blood thirsty (in more ways than one) and playful. Enyo loves a good fight but rarely finds anyone who can stand up to her vampiric strength. Even so, she keeps her skill up by training with multiple weapons but her personal favorite are the sai.

Description: Petite, Enyo is just barely 5'3” and is blessed with an hourglass figure. Her skin is a coppery hue, highlighting her snow-white hair. When not tapping into her vampiric abilities, her eyes are pale jade. Any time her fangs are out, they shift into a bright gold shade, ringed in red, which makes them look almost like they are bleeding.

You can draw her in modern clothing or wearing a greek stola, it's up to you!

Enyo can be drawn with:

Kenpachi Zaraki – battle partner/lover


Bastet

Once the physical embodiment of the ancient Egyptian goddess Bastet, she traded that name for a new one when rescued from certain death by Enyo. She became Netjeret Sekhmet, the goddess of war and destruction and held that name and title for many centuries before moving on.

Currently, she willingly serves Enyo to repay that debt incurred so many centuries prior. The two make an interesting pair, Bastet is subdued and calculated while Enyo is bold and often times rash.

Personality: As mentioned, Bastet is a very calculating woman, always planning ten steps ahead. Only with her prey does she seem playful at all, enjoying toying with them while feeding. It is the only time that she seems to reveal her dominant side as she typically remains a submissive servant to Enyo. She's very refined in her tastes as well, retaining a regal persona from all the years she was worshipped as a goddess.

Description: Fair skinned with jet black hair, Bastet seems to fit the mold of most vampires in her outward appearance. (though her skin is not pasty or sickly white) Her golden eyes have a feline quality to them, shifting to blood red any time she makes use of her vampiric abilities.

Bastet has a rather lanky frame, small boned and somewhat small chested, she stands around 5'8”. You may draw her in modern clothing, or as she was in ancient Egypt.

Bastet can be drawn with:

Byakuya Kuchiki – victim/captive/somewhat unwilling lover (hard to be totally unwilling when she can control his mind )




Here are a few handy definitions in case you were wondering what an Aes Sedai or a'dam is. ^^

Aes Sedai – Women who can channel the One Power, allowing them to control and manipulate the five powers of Fire, Water, Air, Earth and Spirit as they see fit. How they create their weaves determines just what they can do, ranging from the mundane to fierce attacks.

A'dam – A ter'angreal that consists of a silvery collar and bracelet, connected by a matching cord. For the non-WoT readers, the a'dam basically restricts an Aes Sedai's powers entirely, leaving them controlled and completely at the mercy of whomever is wearing the bracelet half of the a'dam. It also allows that individual to know exactly what the woman wearing the a'dam feels at all times.

Another ability allows the sul'dam (person wearing the bracelet) to transmit pain or pleasure to the damane (person wearing the collar) without actually causing any physical damage. In other words, if the sul'dam decides to skin you alive, you will know exactly what that feels like without having to lose your skin. Devious little device, eh?

For the purposes of the story, I changed some of the properties of the a'dam so that anyone could wear the bracelet (in WoT only other women who can channel can wear it) and made the leash optional.
